Scholarship
The Rajasthan Government runs various scholarship schemes for the benefit of students especially those belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. Department of Social Justice and Empowerment is the responsible authority for this plan.

Free School Dress
This scheme was launched by CM Ashok Gehlot in 2022. The Mukhyamantri Free School Uniform distribution scheme provides the students with 2 fabrics for uniforms. Although, the stitching fee of Rs. 200 will be credited to their bank accounts. The objective of this scheme is to ease the financial burden on deserving families and to ensure no student is denied the basic right to education.
Free TextBook
The government of Rajasthan constituted the Rajasthan State Textbook Board in 1973. It is an autonomous body that was registered in 1958. The major objective behind this scheme is to print the textbooks and distribute them to students of classes 1 to 8. This applies only to students enrolled in government and affiliated schools. The learning materials are sent to gram panchayat Nodal Kendras who hand them over to the school teachers in every district.
Mid-Day Meal
In Rajasthan, the School Education Department (SED), the Government of Rajasthan is responsible for implementing the Mid-Day-Meal-Scheme (MDMS). Under this scheme, the aim is to ensure that pupils of classes I to VIII going to school in the state have access to nutritional food. The following are the key objectives of this scheme:
- To encourage enrolment and regularity in attendance in schools.
- Another key objective of the scheme is promoting harmony, compassion, and inclusivity among school children. This can help prevent conflicts among them.
- Taking care of children in the drought-afflicted areas in the hot summers
Milk Yojana
Annapurna Milk Yojanana in Rajasthan was started on 2nd July 2018 to enhance the health level of children. Under this scheme, 200 ml of milk will be given to students of classes 6th to 8th. While 150 ml milk will be given to children from classes 1 to 5. It must be noted that milk will be provided three days a week.
The main objective of this scheme is to maximize student attendance and enrollment. Moreover, it aims to reduce cases of dropout. Like the other related schemes, improving the nutritional level is a desired objective.
Rajshree Yojana
Launched during 2016-17, this scheme guarantees a sum of Rs. 50,000 to the family of a girl child for her educational expenses from birth to intermediate. The sum is given in 6 unequal installments. The following are the objectives of this scheme:
- Creating a positive outlook towards the girl child.
- Improving girl’s health and education in the state.
Balika Siksha Protsaha
Balika Shiksha Foundation was set up on March 30th, 1995 to promote women’s education. It is a legal entity that underpins its activities with an executive board chaired by the Chief Minister and an administrative body chaired by the Chief Secretary. When this organization was founded, the state administration allocated an initial sum of Rs 1 crore as corpus funds; whereas reserves are maintained. There are 6 schemes run using the amount in the reserve fund.
Smile Programme
Implemented by the School Education Department, Government of Rajasthan, Project Smile has the objective of maintaining a free flow and smooth functioning of learning for both teachers and students from home. Smile stands for Social Media Interface for Learning and Engagement. The said program was launched during the COVID-19 adverse situation which challenged the mainstream school structure of learning.
- Under this program, students as well as teachers receive video material through WhatsApp.
- The State Department has a rich pool of resources containing video content for classes 1 to 12. It has been reviewed by SCERT.
- For exam preparation, students of classes XI and XII receive daily proactive questions under the unique #10prashanchallenge.
Scooty Yojana
The Rajasthan State Government has launched the Rajasthan Govt Free Scooty Yojana. The scheme aims at providing free scooters to the 12th-pass girl students. This scheme is also known as Kalibai Bhil Medhavi Vidyarthi Yojana. Through this scheme, the Rajasthan Government will give free scooty to 12th pass girl students of Rajasthan. Additionally, other benefits will be extended to female students under the same scheme.
The scheme has an impressive target of providing free scooters to 50% of students studying in Government schools of Rajasthan Board.
On the other hand, private student girls get a chance of 25% to derive benefit from this scheme.
Laptop Yojana
The idea behind this scheme is to give a professional and competitive edge to students studying in the state. Another objective is to provide laptops to poor meritorious students and ensure they do not get left behind in the fast-changing world. The Government wishes to give away 27,900 laptops under this scheme. Students who have scored above 75% at the state level, and above 70% marks at the district level in classes 8th, 10th, and 12th exclusively under the Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education.
Inspire Award
‘Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research’ (INSPIRE) scheme is a crucial program of The Department of Science and Technology(DST), Government of India. The DST, in conjunction with the National Innovation Foundation, India(NIF), an autonomous body of DST, is responsible for the INSPIRE –MANAK (Million Minds Augmenting National Aspirations and Knowledge).
The main focus of this particular program is to encourage scholars studying in classes 6 to 10th. Additional objectives include generating out-of-the-box one million ideas related to science and societal applications to foster creativity and innovation.
Rajasthan Gramin Olympic Khel
This scheme was launched by the Government of Rajasthan for both rural and urban regions on 29th August, the birth anniversary of hockey legend Major Dhyanchand, by CM Ashok Gehlot. The objective of this scheme is to inculcate athletic talent in rural as well as urban areas of the State.
The games will be held at several levels including Gram Panchayat, Block Panchayat, District level, and State level. Games that fall under this scheme are kho kho, kabaddi, volleyball, and so on.
Gargi Award
The following benefits shall be received by the qualified recipient under the ‘Rajasthan Gargi Puraskar Yojana’ –
- The achievers from classes 11th and 12th will get Rs. 3,000/- each.
- The main objective of this program is to inspire good education for girl children through recognition thus boosting their esteem.
- The state administration will provide an incentive of Rs. 3000 to these scholarship awardees who perform well for two years.
Anuprati Coaching Scheme
This program aims to give quality coaching to 30,000 students who come from disadvantaged backgrounds and improve their chances of qualifying in competitive exams.
The scheme allows qualified candidates to get free coaching, study materials, as well as mentorship from qualified teachers. The training takes place in major towns of Rajasthan through the empaneled coaching centers. This training is available for both Hindi and English medium students.
Vidya Sambal Yojana
The key objective of this scheme is to appoint teachers in educational institutions in Rajasthan. To address the lack of staff in colleges, social groups, or state-run schools in Rajasthan, it has been proposed that visiting lecturers will be appointed.
Indira Gandhi Smartphone Scheme
On the 10th of August, 2023, the Rajasthan Government introduced yet another pivotal social reform project known as the “Indira Gandhi Smartphone Scheme”. The primary rationale behind implementing the Rajasthan Indira Gandhi Smartphone Scheme is to use technology to make women and girls in Rajasthan aware of the State Government’s schemes.
This scheme is housed at the Department of Information and Technology.
